ALMA Eid Dinner Brings Community Together

The ALMA Eid Dinner was held on Sunday, April 6, 2025, at the Glenwood Community Hub, 72 Glenwood Park Drive, Glenwood NSW 2768.

A vibrant crowd of over 250 members, along with their families, filled the hall. The ALMA Eid Dinner has always been a cherished occasion for our community to come together, and this year’s event was no exception. A highlight of the evening was the prize distribution ceremony for participants and winners of the ALMA Ramadan Competition, organized by ACEP.

Br. Mahdhi Mahmood served as the MC for the evening, warmly welcoming the attendees. The event commenced with a beautiful Quran Tilawat by Yousuf Imran.

ACEP Director, Imtiaz Idris, conducted the prize-giving ceremony. The prizes were presented by Exco members and other respected members of the community. In his address, Imtiaz Idris thanked the ACEP parents for their continued support in running the ACEP program and encouraged more school-going children to join the initiative, which has been running successfully for the past 22 years.

The ALMA President then addressed the gathering, welcoming all members and highlighting the significant achievements made within just 45 days since the formation of the new ALMA committee in mid-February. Key accomplishments included:

  1. Successfully hosting four Iftar events during Ramadan for the community.
  2. Sending over Rs. 1.5 million to Sri Lanka to support needy families during Ramadan.
  3. Sending over $30,000 to provide financial assistance for undergraduate students in Sri Lanka.

The President expressed deep appreciation to the members for their support in achieving these milestones. He extended special thanks to the Exco committee members, donors, the Kanji preparation team, and all the volunteers who contributed to making the events a success.

The evening continued with an engaging trivia session conducted by Br. Jafraan, followed by a delicious dinner organized by the ALMA committee.

To conclude the event, ALMA Secretary, Br. Anwar Sathath, delivered the vote of thanks, expressing heartfelt gratitude for the overwhelming support received from community members, ACEP children, and parents, which contributed to the success of the evening.

The event concluded around 11:00 PM.
