Eid ul Fitr, Marking the End of Ramadan, Celebrated with Joy and Gratitude

 

Auburn, 22 April 2023 – The Sri Lankan Muslim community in Sydney came together in a spirit of joy and gratitude to celebrate Eid ul Fitr, which marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan. The festivities took place on Saturday, 22 April 2023, and the main Eid prayer was held at the Gallipoli Mosque. With over 300 people in attendance, it was a joyous occasion filled with prayer, reflection, and community spirit.

 

The day began early as worshippers gathered at the Gallipoli Mosque for the Eid prayer. The prayer commenced 9.00 AM, led by Br. Ubaid ur Rahman, who delivered a heartfelt sermon, emphasizing the importance of unity, gratitude, and compassion in the community. The attendees listened attentively, absorbing the spiritual message, and renewing their commitment to leading righteous lives.

 

ALMA extended its sincere appreciation and gratitude to all the volunteers, contributors, and sponsors who played a crucial role in making the Iftars (meals to break the fast) and the Laylatul Qadr program organized by ALMA a resounding success. The ALMA Exco expressed their heartfelt thanks to the community members who dedicated their time, resources, and efforts to ensure the smooth execution of these events.

 

Throughout the month of Ramadan, ALMA organized Iftars, bringing people together to share meals and engage in acts of charity. Additionally, the Laylatul Qadr program, held on the holiest night of Ramadan, saw a significant turnout, with many participants seeking spiritual enlightenment and divine blessings.

 

The Eid ul Fitr celebration at Gallipoli Mosque saw families, friends, and individuals of all ages gathered to offer prayers, exchange warm greetings, and share festive light breakfast. The atmosphere was filled with joy, love, and a renewed sense of unity.

 

Eid ul Fitr serves as a time of celebration and reflection, a moment for Muslims worldwide to express gratitude for the blessings received during Ramadan. As our community came together to mark this joyous occasion, they were reminded of the importance of unity, compassion, and the power of collective action.
