ALMA EXCO Organized a farewell dinner for Mr. Abdur Raheem– Consul Commercial of the Consulate General of Sri Lanka in Sydney.
Mr. Abdul Raheem, a career Diplomat, and the first Muslim to hold office at the Sri Lanka Consulate office in Sydney, is bidding farewell to Australia after 4 years of service in the Mission. He has had an illustrious career serving as Consul General of Sri Lanka in Dubai, Mumbai and Karachi, and as Head of Commercial Division in the Sri Lankan Embassies in Germany and the Russian Federation previously.
Aside from his diplomatic duties, Mr. Abdul Raheem has been an active member of the Sri Lankan Muslim community in Sydney. He and his wife have attended numerous ALMA functions and programs, showing their support for the community.
ALMA President expressed his gratitude towards Mr. Abdul Raheem for his support towards the community during his time in Sydney. On behalf of the community, he wished Mr. Abdul Raheem and his family success in all their future endeavors.
In sha Allah, Mr. and Mrs. Abdul Raheem are planning to leave Sydney by the first week of January 2022. The Sri Lankan Muslim community in Sydney will surely miss the contributions of this distinguished diplomat.
